The Differential Assembly is a key component of the Suzuki 4WD drivetrain. It transfers torque from the final-drive gear set to the axle shafts while allowing the left and right wheels to rotate at different speeds when the vehicle turns. This differential is available with multiple gear-ratio configurations, including 10×43, 8×39, 8×41, 11×41, and 11×43, providing replacement options for different compatible Suzuki Jimny, Samurai and SJ413 axle configurations. The differential works together with the ring gear, pinion gear, axle shafts, bearings and differential housing to deliver engine torque to the drive wheels.
Core Advantages
1. Reliable Torque Distribution, the differential distributes torque between the left and right axle shafts while allowing different wheel speeds during cornering.
2. Manufactured from robust automotive-grade materials designed to withstand repeated torque loads, vibration and demanding 4WD operating conditions.
3. Replacing the complete differential assembly can reduce rebuilding time when the original carrier or internal components are severely worn.
Application Scenarios
Suzuki Jimny differential replacement
Suzuki Samurai differential repair
SJ413 differential replacement
Front axle differential repair
Rear axle differential repair
4WD drivetrain maintenance

Usage & Installation Guide
Professional installation by a qualified differential or drivetrain technician is strongly recommended.
Step 1 – Confirm the Original Specification
Step 2 – Select the Correct Ratio
Choose the replacement ratio that matches the vehicle's original axle specification.
For example:
10×43 = approximately 4.30:1
8×39 = approximately 4.88:1
8×41 = approximately 5.13:1
11×41 = approximately 3.73:1
11×43 = approximately 3.91:1
Do not mix different final-drive ratios between the front and rear axles of a 4WD vehicle unless the vehicle manufacturer or drivetrain specialist specifically confirms compatibility.
Step 3 – Remove the Original Differential
Safely raise and support the vehicle. Drain the differential oil and remove the original differential assembly according to the applicable service procedure.
Step 4 – Inspect Related Components
Inspect:
Axle housing
Ring gear
Pinion gear
Bearings
Oil seals
Axle shafts
Differential carrier
Driveshaft flange
Mounting surfaces
Replace worn bearings and seals where necessary.
Step 5 – Install the Replacement Differential
Install the replacement unit into the axle housing and ensure that all mounting surfaces and components are correctly aligned.
Step 6 – Check Gear Backlash & Bearing Preload
Adjust the differential according to the applicable axle specifications. Check:
Ring-and-pinion backlash
Bearing preload
Gear-contact pattern
Carrier alignment
Pinion depth
Step 7 – Add Differential Oil
Fill the differential with the appropriate final-drive lubricant to the manufacturer's specified level.
Step 8 – Final Inspection & Road Test
Check for oil leakage, abnormal noise, excessive vibration and correct drivetrain operation. Conduct a controlled road test after installation.

Transmission Input Shaft Wear: Symptoms and Inspection PointsTransmission input shaft wear can cause unusual gearbox noise, shifting difficulties, vibration, and premature damage to related transmission components. The input shaft transfers engine torque from the clutch into the manual transmission.
Manual Transmission Pops Out of Gear: Causes and Parts to InspectWhen a manual transmission pops out of gear, the shift lever unexpectedly returns toward neutral during acceleration, deceleration, or normal driving. This problem may result from worn internal transmission parts, damaged shift linkage

Upgrading to larger off-road tires instantly changes vehicle dynamics. It alters the effective gearing, resulting in sluggish acceleration, poor fuel economy, and excessive transmission wear. Selecting the correct gear ratio restores factory performance and protects drivetrain components. When a veh
A failing drivetrain escalates from a minor annoyance to a catastrophic mechanical failure. This progression often strands vehicles and halts commercial operations. A flashing 4WD light or a vehicle refusing to engage four-wheel drive when leaving the pavement points directly to a breakdown in the drivetrain's electronic-to-mechanical bridge. Differential maintenance goes far beyond a routine fluid change. It acts as a necessary intervention to prevent catastrophic drivetrain failure. Ignoring early warning signs often leads to grenading the unit under sudden torque loads or aggressive clutch drops. When this happens, you face a massive
The Differential Case operates as the central mechanical hub of an automotive drivetrain. It houses the internal gear assembly necessary to transfer engine torque to the drive axles. It simultaneously compensates for wheel speed variations during cornering maneuvers. Automotive engineers and procure
Upgrading a 4x4 pickup or SUV with larger tires and lift kits instantly improves off-road clearance, but it silently introduces a critical mechanical vulnerability: drivetrain stress and altered gearing. While the aesthetic and ground clearance benefits are obvious, the hidden toll on your vehicle's
Upgrading a truck’s payload or towing capacity often encounters bottlenecks not from engine horsepower, but from the structural limits of the drivetrain. Selecting an incorrect axle configuration leads to premature transmission failure, catastrophic drivetrain binding, or compromised fuel economy. S
High-torque applications place immense stress on factory drivetrains. This is especially true in diesel trucks. The differential becomes a primary point of failure under heavy towing or off-highway conditions. A failing differential does not just stop a truck. Due to the lack of internal filtration,
For many Toyota truck and SUV owners, particularly those driving 2016-2023 Tacoma and Tundra models, a persistent howling or whining noise from the rear end causes widespread frustration. Dealerships frequently dismiss these noises as normal gear resonance, torque echoing, or uneven tire wear. This
Drivetrain noises—specifically howling, whining, or grinding—often trigger immediate anxiety for vehicle owners. These acoustic warnings signal potential catastrophic failure, especially during demanding tasks like heavy towing or remote off-roading. When a rear axle component begins to fail, the ri
Rear-end vibration during acceleration is not automatically a differential failure. It is often external to the axle assembly: tires, wheel balance, U-joints, driveshaft angle, center support bearings, yokes, mounts, or driveshaft balance. A true rear differential problem becomes more likely when th
A rear differential leak should be treated as a high-priority fault because the axle housing holds far less lubricant than an engine or transmission. A damp cover can become low gear oil, bearing heat, gear whine, and a costly rebuild if the source is missed. Most leaks still do not require a comple
No. Not every car has a separate rear differential. Most rear-wheel-drive, all-wheel-drive, and four-wheel-drive vehicles do. Most front-wheel-drive cars use a front transaxle that contains the differential function inside the transmission. That distinction matters because many ordering mistakes sta
A front-end grinding, scraping, rumbling, whirring, or howling noise can point to internal front differential damage, but it is often misdiagnosed as a wheel bearing, CV axle, brake issue, transfer case problem, tire noise, or front driveshaft fault. Many owners know a vehicle is “4WD” or “AWD” yet cannot separate the front differential, rear differential, center differential, transfer case, axle lockers, and electronic traction control. That confusion matters because each component solves a different traction problem. At axle level, the Front D
